Join Us for Our 9:00 AM Traditional Worship Service
Our 9:00 AM service offers a meaningful and reverent worship experience rooted in tradition. Each service includes a warm welcome, scripture readings, hymns, special music, and a message from our Pastor. On the first Sunday of every month, we celebrate Holy Communion — open to all.
Inspiring Music Ministry (September–May)
Led by Michael Shoremount, our Chancel Choir (open to 6th grade through adults) enriches worship with timeless hymns and anthems that span from the baroque era to contemporary works, including global musical traditions.
The Joyful Sound Ringers, our handbell choir, add a beautiful dimension to worship with monthly performances. Our Youth Choir (grades 6–12) also contributes their voices once a month, creating a vibrant and intergenerational worship atmosphere.
Summer Worship Music
During the summer months, worship is uplifted by vocal soloists, small ensembles, and talented instrumentalists, offering a rich variety of musical expressions.
Experience Uplifting Worship at Our 10:30 AM Contemporary Service
Our 10:30 AM “hybrid” service offers a relaxed and welcoming environment where you can experience God’s presence through vibrant, contemporary worship. Led by our gifted praise and worship team, the music is heartfelt and spirit-filled — blending powerful vocals and skilled musicianship to invite the congregation into authentic praise and worship.
Each service also includes a friendly greeting, passing of the peace, a sermon-related scripture reading, and a relevant, hope-filled message from our Pastor. On the first Sunday of every month, we also celebrate Holy Communion, and all are welcome to participate.
Whether you’re new to faith or looking for a deeper connection, our 10:30 AM service is a space to encounter God’s love and be encouraged in your journey.
Hockessin UMC also sponsors special music events either led by our own musicians or featuring guest artists in concert. Examples of several events are: a sing-along to celebrate Independence Day; a Christmas Baroque Music concert featuring soloist Amy Shoremount, soprano with the New York Metropolitan Opera; performances by the Wilmington Handbell Ensemble; and a Tuba Christmas.
Get Involved at Hockessin UMC – Use Your Gifts to Make a Difference
At Hockessin United Methodist Church, we believe everyone has been uniquely gifted by God — and those gifts are meant to be shared. Our volunteers are essential to the life of our church, especially in our music and media ministries, where their time and talents help create meaningful worship experiences each week.
Whether you sing, play an instrument, enjoy technology, or love supporting others from behind the scenes, there’s a place for you here. Volunteers typically serve once or twice a month at either our 9:00 AM traditional service or our 10:30 AM contemporary service, making it easy to get involved without feeling overwhelmed.
Joining a ministry team is more than just helping on Sundays — it’s a chance to grow in faith, connect with others, and be part of something bigger than yourself.
