Children & Youth Ministry

Our children and youth ministry offers a relational approach to help children of all ages experience the love of Jesus Christ. Dedicated volunteers create a safe and caring environment, guiding children in their faith journey.

But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Luke 18:16

Small Group Ministry

We believe that belonging to a small group is vital for members of our congregation to support each other in their faith journey. Small groups meet in homes or at church, focusing on study, fellowship, or service, and provide opportunities for members to:

  • Share their joys and challenges with one another,
  • Grow in faith through the study of the Word,
  • Encourage and pray for each other, and
  • Reach out to support others in the community.

Nurturing Ministry

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 2 Corinthians 1:3–4

When members of our congregation seek comfort and support, our nurturing ministries extend the love and care of Jesus through thoughtful gestures such as cards, visits, handmade pillows, and hand-knitted shawls. Care Team members regularly send cards to our long-standing members. The Threads of Comfort sewing group creates comfort pillows for the sick, including cancer patients in nearby hospitals. Additionally, the Knitters Group crafts prayer shawls for those who are ill, elderly, grieving within our congregation, or anyone in need of a comforting hug.

Outreach Ministry

“For whatsoever you do to the least of your brothers and sisters, you do unto me,” says the Lord Jesus. Matthew 25:40

Hockessin United Methodist Church Missions Outreach aims to help those most in need by providing both material and spiritual sustenance, allowing for hope in their lives that may lead to faith and the joy of knowing Jesus Christ.
