Questions
We hold services on Sunday at 9:00am and 10:30am.
Each of the services consists of prayer, singing and a pastoral message.
Most people address our pastor by using the title “Pastor” before his first name (i.e. Pastor Vern).
You may join members of the congregation to sing, pray aloud or silently, and listen to scripture readings. You may be invited to greet those around you. You may follow along in the hymnal and/or on the screen at the front of the church. There will be times to sit and times when you will be asked to stand if you are able (queues will be provided during the service).
Most importantly, we hope that you will receive a blessing from attending our service.
You will likely be welcomed by either one of our greeters or ushers. You may also be asked if you are visiting (but you will not be pointed out as a visitor). We ask all visitors to register their attendance on forms provided in the service (a tear-off section of the worship service bulletin).
There is no dress code for attending our services; the congregation is encouraged to dress however they feel comfortable. Attendees at our contemporary service tend to dress more casually – from jeans to business casual. Attendees at our traditional services tend to dress up more – from business casual to suits.
Ample parking is available at Hockessin Church. You can enter the parking lots from either Old Lancaster Pike, which is closer to the Sunday School building, or from Lancaster Pike, where you will see spaces designated for visitors.
The double door entrance under the portico is the main entrance. There is also a wheelchair accessible entrance just around the corner of the main entrance to the left.
Come As You Are
By all means, we want you to come as you are. We want you to feel welcomed and loved every single time you walk through our doors. We understand that no one is perfect. The only thing we can do is love each other and extend grace.
Children are always welcome to attend Sunday services with their parents. However, for your convenience, childcare for infants and toddlers is available for all services. Additionally, many children prefer to attend the age-specific classes and worship activities during the 10:30 service. Classes and activities range from preschool through high school.

Age-specific classes and worship activities are available during the 10:30 service in The Big House (previously known as Founders Hall), which is the building that faces Old Lancaster Pike. Classes and activities range from preschool to middle school.
We offer Communion on the first Sunday of each month. Communion is open to all members and visitors. The only requirement is that you intend to lead a Christian Life. It is acceptable for anyone choosing not to partake in Communion to remain seated during that part of the service.
New adult members join primarily by transferring from another church or through baptism and a profession of faith. Youth generally join following the completion of our Confirmation Class. We provide membership information classes for those interested in joining our church (contact the church office or Pastor Vern).
If you are transferring from another church TO Hockessin Church, the pastor of your current church will notify our church of the transfer.
